Russians warned about a new type of dangerous programs
Harvester programs that combine several types of viruses can steal account data and money from Russians. Russians were warned about the danger of a new type of malicious software (software) by digital threat analyst Alexander Vurasko in an interview with Sputnik radio station.
According to the expert, most of the malware that users encounter has only one function each. However, as Vourasko noted, recently, attackers have begun using combine programs that contain several types of viruses and therefore can cause harm in different ways.
“When such programs (programs-combines – approx. “Lenta.ru”) get on the computer, they will “milk” the victim to the end. If you can steal money, then the harvester will do it. If it doesn’t work out, then the malware will run through the saved passwords and try to transfer account data to hackers,” the analyst said and added that if the program fails to transfer information to hackers, then it can encrypt the user’s data and require money to be transferred for their decryption.
In order not to become a victim of intruders, Vurasko advised using an antivirus. In addition, you should not run unknown programs and follow links from messages from unknown senders, even if their name contains the names of large organizations and brands, the expert added. He stressed that these measures will help protect against combine programs.
Previously, Kaspersky Lab experts named the most common way to infect devices with viruses. According to them, most often hackers attack Russians through e-mail.
