Named the difference between cyber warfare against Russia
The chief expert of Kaspersky Lab, Sergey Golovanov, spoke about the cyber war being waged against Russia. He announced this in an interview with RIA Novosti on the eve of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
According to the specialist, the current situation is not the first time that hacktivists have become active. Similar phenomena were recorded in 2008 and 2014. A similar case was in Estonia, when the monument to the Liberator Soldier was demolished in the country and the cemetery of Soviet soldiers was transferred.
Golovanov named the difference between the cyber war against Russia and accused Ukraine of controlling the conflict at the state level.
“Naturally, military conflicts are reflected in conflicts on the Internet with all the ensuing consequences. The only thing new that happened after February 24 is that one of the parties officially announced that an IT army was being created, invited everyone to join it, and regularly indicates targets for attacks. It turns out state coordination at the level of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. This has never happened before,” he said.
Other manifestations of cyber warfare, including DDoS attacks, malware distributions and other incidents, have been observed by experts “many, many times” at the global level. Similar conflicts occurred between Pakistan and India, India and China, China and Japan.
Earlier, Golovanov said that Russian bank cards were no longer of interest to hackers. This trend became noticeable in April 2022.
