Durov rebuked Apple for deliberately degrading the quality of web versions of applications
Russian millionaire and founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov accused Apple of deliberately degrading the quality of web versions of applications to increase their downloads in the App Store, for which the company receives a commission. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
“We suspect that Apple may deliberately degrade its web apps in order to force users to download more native apps, where Apple may charge its 30 percent fee,” the entrepreneur stressed, noting that Telegram Web cannot reach its full potential on devices. with the iOS platform.
Durov noted that the company deliberately restricts web developers. He cited their complaints about technical issues in the Safari browser used by Apple devices.
According to the entrepreneur, the British Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has already drawn attention to these features. It concluded that the company was limiting the app’s capabilities by depriving consumers of the benefits of the technology.
Earlier, Durov announced that new paid features would appear in the Telegram messenger. The developers will introduce a Telegram Premium subscription that allows everyone to purchase additional features, speed and resources.
